Purpose
MedInfoBase is an independent Pakistan-focused medicines and pharmaceutical intelligence platform. It organizes source-linked medicine, company and price records so users can search and compare structured information more easily.
Source hierarchy
Regulatory-source records, including information published by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), are treated as primary evidence where available. Manufacturer or company information may be used for company identity and portfolio enrichment when it can be linked to a reliable source. Third-party material is not treated as a substitute for primary regulatory evidence.
Normalization
Source text is preserved while separate normalized fields are created for generics, brands, companies, strengths, dosage forms and pack information. Normalization is intended to make equivalent records searchable without silently changing the underlying source evidence.
Quality control
Automated integrity checks screen for uncertain generic identity, combination-product mismatches, strength inconsistencies, duplicate identities, implausible price movements and other conflicts. Records that cannot be normalized confidently are held for review rather than published as trusted canonical data.
Price records
MedInfoBase distinguishes current, future-effective and historical price records. A future-effective source record is retained as evidence but is not presented as the current effective price before its effective date. Price comparisons should be read together with pack, strength, dosage form, source date and effective date.
Updates and corrections
Source observations are periodically rechecked. The date shown on a MedInfoBase page may represent the latest source observation, the effective date of a price record, or the latest internal quality-control update; these are different concepts. Material errors can be reported through the Corrections Policy and Contact pages.
Important: MedInfoBase is not DRAP, the Ministry of National Health Services, a manufacturer, pharmacy, prescriber or dispensing service. Users should verify regulatory and clinical decisions against the relevant authoritative source.
