Research Brief MIB-RB-2026-002 · version 1.0 · published 27 October 2026 · MedInfoBase Research Team
Every official DRAP price change recorded in October 2026 was an increase. 666 packs across 138 medicines and 14 companies rose, by a median of 4.9%.
Abstract
This brief reports every change in official maximum retail price recorded for validated medicine packs in Pakistan between 1 and 27 October 2026. A change is counted when a pack receives a new verified official DRAP price that differs from its previous official price. 666 packs changed price in the period. All 666 were increases; no pack fell in price. The median increase was 4.94%. The changes spanned 138 generic medicines and 14 companies. For context, the same method records 3,025 changes in August 2026 and 665 in September 2026. Because the month was still in progress on the date of this brief, the October total is a lower bound.
Key findings

Method
The MedInfoBase record holds every official DRAP price notified for each validated pack, with the date it took effect. For each pack whose current verified official price took effect in October 2026 we located the previous official price for the same presentation and computed the percentage change. Packs with no previous price (newly priced products) are not counted as changes. Prices are PKR per pack. Counts of generic medicines and companies are distinct counts across the 666 packs. The August and September figures use the identical method over those months.
Limitations
The month was incomplete on the date of publication, so the October figures are a lower bound; the live bulletin updates automatically and the final October figure may be higher. Effective dates are those stated in DRAP notifications, which can precede the date MedInfoBase recorded them. Only validated, published packs are counted, so the true number of changes in the whole DRAP list is likely larger. Official prices are maximum retail prices and do not describe what was charged at pharmacies.
