For researchers: methods, limits and data

MedInfoBase keeps a structured, source-linked record of official medicine prices in Pakistan. Researchers, journalists and students may use it with the citation below. This page explains what the data is, what it is not, and how to download a dated snapshot.
What the data is
Each record is one pack (brand, strength, dosage form, pack size) with its official maximum retail price in PKR as notified by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), the date that price took effect, and the DRAP registration number. Only packs that have passed our identity validation and carry a verified price are included. Price history is kept, so a pack can have several records over time.
What it is not
These are official maximum retail prices, not the price charged on a pharmacy shelf, which can be lower. They say nothing about availability or stock. Pack sizes differ between brands, so compare like with like: the Brand price-gap section above does this for you. Prices for medical devices and disposables come from public tender awards and sit on a separate page. We do not hold patient-level data of any kind.
Download a dated snapshot
Two files, generated live from the record and stamped with the date, so your analysis is reproducible.
Current prices (CSV) Price changes (CSV)Current prices: one row per pack: generic, brand, company, strength, form, pack size, price (PKR), effective date, DRAP registration number. Price changes: every recorded change: pack, previous price, new price, effective date, percentage change.
Columns are described on the data dictionary; the checking process on data sources and methodology; refresh timing on update cadence; known gaps on coverage.
