USP L19 column: SCX resin, Ca2+ form (sugars)
Strong cation-exchange resin of sulfonated, cross-linked styrene-divinylbenzene in the calcium form; particles about 5-15 um.
Mode: ion-exchange Typical pH range: about 5-9 (water eluent)
Typical uses
- Sugars (glucose, fructose, lactulose) with water as eluent
- Sugar alcohols
- Excipient assays (ligand exchange)
Common sizes (length x internal diameter, particle size)
- 300 x 7.8 mm, 8-9 um
- 250 x 4.6 mm, 5 um
Run hot (often 80-85 C) with pure water; never use acids or other salts, which strip the calcium.
