USP L17 column: SCX resin, H+ form (organic acid / ion-exclusion)
Strong cation-exchange resin of sulfonated, cross-linked styrene-divinylbenzene in the hydrogen form; particles 6-12 um.
Mode: ion-exchange Typical pH range: about 1-3 in use (dilute acid eluent); resin itself 1-14
Typical uses
- Organic acids by ion-exclusion with dilute acid eluent
- Sugars, alcohols and glycols
- Fermentation-type and excipient assays
Common sizes (length x internal diameter, particle size)
- 300 x 7.8 mm, 8-9 um
- 250 x 4.6 mm, 5 um
Usually run at elevated temperature (e.g. 35-65 C) with dilute sulfuric or phosphoric acid; avoid organic solvent above maker limits.
